The Ultimate iPhone Survival Guide

iphone_survival.jpgBreath everyone! Only eight more days until the iPhone launch. To make sure that you will be prepared for the biggest event of the year, we have prepared this iPhone Survival Guide for you.

No matter if you decide to camp out for the iPhone over night, or will just get to your local Apple/AT&T store at 6pm, our iPhone survival guide has something for everybody to make sure that your 1st iPhone experience will be a memorable one.

Without further ado, here’s what you should bring along to your iPhone shopping spree:

Your Wallet

Duh! Now, this one seems just too obvious. However, you should make sure that your wallet is filled with just the right ingredients for a successful purchase, including:

  • Valid proof of identification such as a drivers license.
  • Credit Card and maybe even a second one as a backup. Depending on your credit-history you might need to leave a hefty deposit with the new AT&T. (And you don’t want to camp out overnight with a stack of cash on you right?)
  • Social Security Card for AT&T’s credit check. Or alternatively, memorize your digits.
  • Student ID, if applicable. You do want to save 15% of your monthly wireless bill don’t you?

Copy of Your Current Wireless Carrier’s Bill

If you are switching to AT&T from another wireless carrier and would like to keep your existing number make sure to bring a copy of your current wireless bill. AT&T requires this document for a hassle-free transfer of your number. Make sure to read up on this article for more information.

Camping Chair

A few hours in front of your local AT&T/Apple store can be quite uncomfortable. So make sure to bring a comfy chair to rest your tired legs on. We recommend: The ‘Quick Chair Recliner’ from Walmart.

Kick up your feet and relax in the great outdoors or while watching your favorite team with the Quik Chair Recliner.

Or while waiting in line for your iPhone… For $28.87 it is yours to take home.

Sleeping Bag

Want the iPhone real bad? Planning to stay overnight and don’t live in California? A chair alone might not do it for you to get you through an uncomfortable night.

The sleeping bag of your choice, of course depends on your location, but we’d recommend the ‘Everest Mummy 0 to 5-Degree Sleeping Bag‘ to keep you warm for the iPhone.

It’s yours for $22.37.

Fluids

coke.jpgSelf explanatory. Make sure to stay hydrated so you don’t run out of steam ahead of the game. Add some caffeine if you don’t want to fall asleep in order to protect your spot in line. (I’ve witnessed the PS3 launch and let me tell you, it is cut throat out there…)

A Friend

imaginary-friend1.jpgCute huh? But seriously, it’s a good idea to bring a friend to stand in line with you. Especially if you plan to stay over night. Don’t count on the shoppers behind you to save your spot in line while you run around the corner for a pee-break.

If your friend has no interest in purchasing an iPhone you still might be able to bribe him/her by promising a 30 minutes test-run on the device. (Alternatively: Try the puppy eyes…)

Entertainment

hp_boosk.jpgEven your best friend will get boring around 4am in the morning, so you better plan ahead and bring some form of entertainment along the ride to keep you busy for the remaining 14 hours. May we recommend:

  • The Harry Potter Book Series: The seventh and last installment of J.K. Rowling’s wizard series will hit the street on July 21st. A good time to brush up on the first six books? We think so…
  • Your good old iPod. Podcasts? Music? Games? Whatever floats your boat, the iPod will keep you entertained with 20 hours of audio or alternatively 6.5 hours of video. Sure, the iPhone’s battery will supposedly last longer, but can it hold up to 80GB of data?
  • Your Notebook (Preferably a MacBook /Pro). If you are camping outside the Apple store you will be able to access their free wireless Internet to keep you occupied with the latest rumors just hours before the iPhone launch. That is, if you aren’t too far behind in line and out of reach of the wireless-goodness.

Line Starts Here Sign

If you’re the first in line (lucky you) make it official. Post a “The Line Starts” here sign to make your line the official one. You don’t want three other people to start their own lines do you? If you’re really prepared, you’ll even bring your own stanchions along. I heard AT&T needs a few
